With your own car, by ferry

If you would rather not drive the whole way in your own car, you can take a ferry from an Italian port. According to a Ferryhopper overview, ferries run from Genoa and from Civitavecchia to Barcelona, and cars can be taken on them. The operators are GNV and Grimaldi Lines. The Civitavecchia–Barcelona crossing generally takes between 18 and 25 hours. From Barcelona you then continue to Torrevieja by car.

This suits you if you are travelling through Italy anyway, or if you want to have your own car on site. Check the timetable and price with the operator or the ticket site before booking.
We did not find a direct car-train service to Spain (carrying the car by rail), so we do not recommend that route here.
What is worth deciding in advance?

If you are coming for a few days and only want to get to know the town, the bus may be enough. If you would like to view several properties in the area, a rental car is more flexible.
